Q: What does a day at work consist of for you?
A: Most days I start work, which involves some random combination of analysis, invention, problem solving, conferences with others (which are probably the most scheduled items) and so on. I have my to do list and stay in competition with myself to polish it off as early as possible.
Q: What’s the best part of your job?
A: I love the people I work with and the enormous amount of autonomy I’m granted. I love the variety of the days, the superb hotels that Robinson operates and the many destinations I can travel to and meet with internationally minded people. My mission is to launch Robinson internationally. This is an interesting and motivating task which provides lots of positive stress.
Q: Do you have anyone you’ve looked up to?
A: I am inspired by Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba. He is a fighter and his dedication encourages me daily.
Q: Do you have any nice traditions at your office?
A: I like the weekly Wednesday chat, where our CEO and CFO meet the team and update about the happenings. It is a great interactive dialogue for all of us to hear company updates, news and happenings first hand and moreover raise questions what concerns everyone. Furthermore everyone is on first name basis, which we all find really cool.
Q: How long have you been a member of HSMAI?
A: I got introduced to HSMAI in Singapore in 2008. There I had the opportunity to work with the Asian chapter on a white paper in conjunction with Cornell University. This was a very valuable network experience. Since then I am committed and dedicated to HSMAI.
Q: What do you think is the best thing about HSMAI?
A: «It’s not WHAT you know, but WHO you know». In my opinion, HSMAI is the key to your success in the hospitality and travel industry. HSMAI provides you a great source of relevant connections in your network that you can call on when you need them.
Q: Are there any activities or projects you think HSMAI should start up?
A: I am absolutely thrilled about the mentor – mentee project which is due to start.
Q: Describe your perfect weekend.
A: A great escape with my husband. Love to explore charming cities, experience culinary delights and have quality time together.
Q: If you were trapped on a desert island, what would you take with you, if you could choose one thing?
A: I would choose one person – my husband.
Q: What is the title of the book about your life?
A: No risk, no fun.
Q: What is your next travel destination?
A: I am off to Southern France tomorrow.
Q: Do you have any special hobbies?
A: I love trekking – setting new challenges for myself.
Q: Thank you for your time. Do you have any personal comments?
A: See you at the next HSMAI event, shortly.
